Why I'm Running

Meet Rachel

The daughter of a DC Public School teacher, Rachel Williams is a fourth-generation Washingtonian and homeowner in Ward 5 Single Member District (SMD) 5B05 since 2021. Rachel currently serves as Ombudsman for the DC Office of Contracting and Procurement where she supports local businesses seeking to do business with the District and works to ensure transparency and accountability in government contracting. Rachel fights for her neighbors and local businesses because she sees the challenges they face on a daily basis. As Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner, Rachel will continue to be a champion for her community and fight for greater transparency and inclusion of SMD 5B05 residents, so that all voices are heard before big decisions are made that will impact our community for decades.

Single Member District (SMD) 5B05

Located in Washington, DC, Ward 5, Single Member District (SMD) 5B05 sits between 13th Street and John McCormack Road to the east and west, Taylor and Varnum Streets to the north, and Otis Street down to the Brookland Metro Station to the south. Neighborhoods include Brookland, Michigan Park, and North Michigan Park. SMD 5B05 runs along sections of Michigan Avenue NE, Varnum Street NE, and 14th Street NE, and includes areas near Bunker Hill Elementary School.
